Change the Pitch of Audio

Make a voice or a song higher or lower, up to an octave either way, without changing its speed or its length. Hear it first, then apply it. It all happens in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.

How to Change the Pitch of Audio

  1. Open your file in the audio editor and choose the Speed tool on the left. The Pitch part is under the speed.
  2. Set the Semitones slider: +12 is an octave higher, −12 an octave lower, and 1 is the next key on a piano.
  3. Press Preview to hear up to 10 seconds with the new pitch, from the selection or the playhead.
  4. Press Change pitch. It changes the selection, or the whole file when nothing is selected.
  5. Press the save button at the top right (Save MP3, Save WAV or Save M4A).

Questions

Does it change the speed?

No. The length stays the same, to within a few thousandths of a second. To change the speed and keep the pitch, use Change speed just above it.

How much should I change it?

One or two semitones moves a song to another key or freshens a voice; five to seven sounds clearly different; twelve is a whole octave. Big changes can make a voice sound less natural, so listen to the preview first.

Can I change a song's key?

Yes. Each semitone is one step: +2 moves a song in C to D. Select a part first to change only that part.

Is my audio uploaded?

No. The pitch is changed in your browser. The file is read from your device and saved back to it.
