Blur Faces in a Photo
Paint over faces, number plates or a name on a letter, and they are blurred or pixelated in the saved picture. The photo stays on your device the whole time, which is the point when it's private.

How to Blur Faces in a Photo
- Open your photo in the photo editor. JPG, PNG and WebP work.
- In the Hide tool on the left, choose Blur for a soft blur or Pixelate for blocks.
- Set the Brush size to about the size of a face, then drag over each face or number plate on the photo. Each stroke can be taken back with Undo.
- Painted too much? Press Erase and drag over that part, then press Paint to carry on. Move Strength to the right for a stronger blur or bigger blocks.
- Press the save button at the top right (it says Save JPG, Save PNG or Save WebP, after the file type). The picture goes to your downloads.
Questions
Can someone remove the blur from the saved photo?
The blur is part of the saved picture's pixels; there is no hidden layer to switch off. A light blur can still hint at what was there, so for anything that must stay secret, use Pixelate with the strength turned all the way up.
What if I crop or turn the photo after blurring?
The blur stays on the face. It belongs to that spot in the photo, so cropping, turning, flipping or resizing afterwards keeps it in place.
How do I see exactly where I painted?
Tick Show where you painted in the Hide tool. The painted areas are tinted on the picture, but not in the saved file.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The blur is painted and the picture is saved in your browser; nothing leaves your device.
