Add a Border to a Photo

Give a photo a white border, a polaroid look, a film strip or a soft shadow, in the colour and width you like. It all happens in your browser, so your photo stays on your device.

How to Add a Border to a Photo

  1. Open your photo in the photo editor. JPG, PNG and WebP work.
  2. In the Frames tool on the left, press a frame: Border, Rounded, Polaroid, Shadow, Film strip or Double line. Each tile shows your photo in that frame.
  3. Pick the frame's Colour and move Width to make it thinner or thicker.
  4. The film strip and the double line have a second colour, shown under the first: the Hole colour or the Line colour.
  5. Press the save button at the top right (it says Save JPG, Save PNG or Save WebP, after the file type). The picture goes to your downloads.

Questions

Does the border cover part of my photo?

No. The frame goes around the photo, so nothing is hidden and the saved picture gets a little bigger. The new size shows at the bottom of the editor.

How do I make a square photo with a white border for Instagram?

First crop the photo to Square in the Crop tool, then choose Border in white. The border is the same width on every side, so the picture stays square.

Are the rounded corners see-through in a PNG?

No. With Rounded, the photo's corners are rounded and the space around them is filled with the frame's colour, in every file type.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The frame is drawn and the picture is saved in your browser; nothing leaves your device.
