Target LUFS

What the targets mean

Podcast apps ask for about −16 LUFS; YouTube and streaming services turn louder files down to about −14 LUFS. Levelling keeps the true peak (the highest point, between samples too) under −1 dBTP, so the sound doesn't distort when it is saved as MP3 or M4A or played back.

Filters

Change the character of the sound, on the selection or the whole file.

Strength60 %

What the filters do

While this tool is open and Hear it while playing is on, you hear the filter as you play; nothing changes until you press Apply. Apply works on the selection, or on the whole file when nothing is selected, and Ctrl+Z takes it back.

Noise

Remove steady background noise: hiss, hum, fans, air conditioning, traffic.

Open a file to find its background noise.

Strength60 %

Keep a little of the background, so voices don't sound underwater

The noise is learned from the quiet parts between words, or from a stretch you select. It works best on steady noise; it can't take out music, other voices or sudden sounds.
